POKHARA: The Supreme Court has rejected an interim order issued in favor of the writ petition of Rastriya Janamorcha State Assembly member Krishna Thapa in the Gandaki State.
Thapa had earlier filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court after relieving from the state assembly. In the writ petition, the apex court had issued an interim order in favor of Thapa.
Gandaki State Assembly Secretariat, State Assembly Speaker Netranath Adhikari and Rastriya Janamorcha had reached the apex court with an appeal against the interim order. A joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha and Kumar Regmi on the appeal has quashed the earlier interim order.
The party whip was violated even after an interim order was issued in Thapa’s favor. While Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung was seeking a vote of confidence, the Janamorcha had decided to vote in opposition but Thapa had again violated the party’s whip. The party then took action against him again.
With the new order of the Supreme Court, Thapa has been relieved from the state assembly.
