KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN (UML) has suspended senior party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal from party membership for six months.
It has been informed that the suspension period can be extended or further actions may be carried out if the situation remains anti-party. The letter also said that Nepal and Rawal were given one last chance for reform. “This is your last chance for reform,” the letter signed by Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli states.
If his views and actions are in favor of the party, the party may decide to reduce the period of suspension even during the period of suspension, and further action may be taken in the middle of the period of suspension if anti-party activities are continued, the letter said.
“In the explanation asked earlier on behalf of the party, you have continued to disintegrate the party unity, disintegrate the party, disrupt the cooperation and harmony within the party, hold illegal meetings and meet with the well-wishers of the party and continue to support them. You have done self-centered things.”
Asked in the explanation, the letter further alleged that leader Madhav Nepal did not admit his mistake, did not do any self-review and did not show any tendency to self-criticize.
Meanwhile, other leaders close to Madhav Kumar Nepal have responded with autocratic activities of Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal and youth leader Yogesh Bhattarai also criticised the move of party chairman. In a tweet, Rawal has said that the autocratic decision by party Chairman KP Oli was unacceptable.
Similarly, leader Madhav Nepal has also responded that the he would reject the unilateral decision by KP Oli, and he would not leave the field but struggle.
